The Public Works Department Fiscal Management Section is responsible for preparing and monitoring the Department's annual Budget, approving payments, and invoicing outside agencies for grant funds. Fiscal Management also develops revenue projections and helps prepare the Capital Improvement Program, which lists infrastructure-improvement projects costing $50,000 or more to be designed or constructed over the next 5 years.
Other duties of Fiscal Management include working with Engineering to research and prepare funding grants, and with Caltrans, the San Joaquin Council of Governments, and others to actually receive the funding after a grant is approved. Fiscal is also responsible for administering the federal Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise programs for the Public Works Department and for various special projects.
