Stockton City Council approves the garbage rates and adjustments. The City's two franchised waste haulers – Republic Services and Waste Management – are authorized to charge the current garbage rates for all residential and commercial customers.
The City's contract with the waste haulers allows for an annual rate adjustment equal to 50% of the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) over the previous one-year period.
Residential customers are billed monthly for garbage and recycling services, based on the size of the garbage cart.
Commercial businesses are billed directly through their service providers. All billing questions should be directed to the appropriate service provider.
Discounts are available to residential customers for garbage collection services only. To qualify, the bill must be in the name of the qualifying customer and for the customer's primary residence.
If you are a senior (65 years of age or older) and the utility bill account holder, contact Utility Billing Customer Service to receive a 10% discount on your garbage and recycling collection service rate.
You must provide a copy of your driver's license to receive the discount. If an old address is on the driver's license, you may be asked to show proof of residency at the address in question.
Seniors (65 and older) and below the median annual income of $35,483 per household may be eligible for an additional 10% discount. Please download an application below or call Utility Billing Customer Service to mail an application.
Residents who are permanently disabled and below the median annual income of $35,483 per household may be eligible for a 10% discount. Please download an application below or call Utility Billing Customer Service to mail an application.
